FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ALEXANDRIA, VA — On Saturday, May 17, Hopkins House proudly hosted the 2025 Early Childhood Learning Institute (ECLI) Student Achievement Recognition Ceremony on the Alexandria campus of Northern Virginia Community College to honor the academic accomplishments of 18 teens and young adults who completed college degrees, earned academic credits, and achieved professional certifications in early childhood education.
The ECLI, founded in 2009, offers comprehensive academic and career development opportunities. Students receive college coursework, hands-on classroom experience, mentorship, and wraparound supports to help them reach their educational and professional goals while meeting the region’s growing demand for skilled early childhood educators.
These emerging early childhood professionals were recognized for earning valuable credentials including the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, Child Development Certificate (CDC), Career Studies Certificate (CSC), and associate degrees — each marking a significant milestone in their career pathways and contributing to the delivery of high-quality early education for young children across Northern Virginia.
“Through their perseverance and dedication, these young people are not only building brighter futures for themselves, but they are also strengthening the early childhood education workforce for generations to come,” said J. Glenn Hopkins, President/CEO of Hopkins House.
The Early Childhood Learning Institute is funded by an annual grant from the City of Alexandria and donations from individuals, and local businesses and community organizations.
