Virginia Delegate Charniele Herring to Keynote Hopkins House Community Stakeholders’ Annual Meeting

Veteran legislator to discuss her work on issues affecting families with children, housing, and access to quality healthcare

__________

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Hopkins House is pleased to announce that Virginia State Delegate the Honorable Charniele L. Herring will be the keynote speaker at the 2026 Hopkins House Community Stakeholders’ Annual Meeting, Saturday, September 19, at 9:30 a.m. at Hopkins House’s new Kingstowne Preschool Academy in Fairfax County.

Delegate Herring, who represents Virginia’s 46th House District and has served as a Hopkins House Trustee since 2009, will speak about her legislative work on issues directly affecting Virginia families, including the needs of families with children, housing, and access to quality healthcare.

“We are honored to have Delegate Herring join us for this important gathering,” said James l. Banks, Jr., Board Chair of Hopkins House. “The issues she will address — the well-being of children and families, housing stability, and access to quality healthcare — are deeply interconnected and have a direct impact on the families and communities Hopkins House serves. Her perspective as both a state legislator and longtime Hopkins House Trustee makes her an especially fitting keynote speaker as our Community Stakeholders come together to celebrate 87 years of service and consider the work still ahead.”

Annual Meeting

This annual meeting is one of the most important events in the life of Hopkins House, bringing together Community Stakeholders, families, supporters, partners, friends, and members of the public to review the organization’s accomplishments and priorities for the coming year.

In addition to Delegate Herring’s keynote address, the meeting will include the election of Hopkins House Trustees, presentation of the 2025–2026 Community Impact Report, committee reports, updates on current and future initiatives, and opportunities for attendees to engage with Hopkins House leadership and fellow supporters.

The meeting will be held at the organization’s newly opened Kingstowne Preschool Academy, 7130 Silver Lake Boulevard, Alexandria, Virginia 22315, located within Fairfax County’s new shared-use Kingstowne community complex. Hopkins House was selected by Fairfax County earlier this year to operate the new childcare center, which expands the organization’s early childhood education services in the Franconia/Kingstowne community.

A complimentary breakfast will be served. Admission is free for current Hopkins House Community Stakeholders — individuals or organizations that have donated at least $100 to Hopkins House during the past year — and $25 for all other attendees. Seating is limited and advance RSVP is encouraged.

“Whether you have supported Hopkins House for decades or are just beginning to learn about our work, we invite you to join us,” Banks said. “This is an opportunity not only to celebrate what we have accomplished together, but to have a meaningful conversation about how we continue building brighter futures for children and families throughout our community.”
