During the organization's annual Staff Appreciation Luncheon last month, Hopkins House president J. Glenn Hopkins was surprised with a special recognition from the trustees for his 25 years of service to the organization. The recognition was secretly organized by the Board chair, trustees and members of the executive staff.

This past April marked the 25th year Hopkins has served as President, the longest serving chief executive since the organization was founded 77 years ago.

_MG_7755After showing slides of various events involving the president over the past 25 years, Board Chair Julie Jakopic presented Hopkins with a writing pen, crystal apple, and certificate.  The 90 trustees and staff attending the luncheon gave him a standing ovation.  The president was so moved he was unable to speak when called to the podium.

"I am never comfortable with these sorts of things," the president said later.  "I am already blessed by the privilege of working with a terrific organization of people committed to helping children and families fulfull their potential.  To me, that's  the reward; one that I receive every day I come to work.  But, I am very touched by the recognition and appreciate it."
