Opened in 1939, the Academy serves up to 75 children from diverse socio-economic backgrounds, ages 6 weeks to 5 years old.
The Academy is licensed by the Virginia Department of Education, accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), and housed in a warm, welcoming community building in historic Old Town Alexandria.
The Academy is located on the corner of Princess and N. Payne Streets across the street from the Dunbar Alexandria-Olympic Boys & Girls Club, just a few blocks from the Braddock Metro Station and around the corner from Helen Miller/Bernard Hunter Park (named in memory of Hopkins House alumni) and Jefferson-Houston Elementary School.

Opened in 1988, the Academy serves up to 125 children from diverse socio-economic backgrounds, ages 6 weeks to 5 years old.
The Academy is licensed by the Virginia Department of Education and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), housed in a modern, state-of-the-art building, sits on a 3-acre campus with lots of grass and outdoor space for running and fun, and has a state-of-the-art children’s playground built by Monumental Sports & Entertainment (owners of the Wizards, Capitals, Mystics, and Capital City Go Go sports teams) and KABOOM!
The Academy is located in the Mt. Vernon community on Richmond Highway just north of Ft. Belvoir U.S. Army base and a few blocks south of the Fairfax County Gerry Hyland (South County) Government Center.

Opened in 2026, the Academy serves up to 78 children from diverse socio-economic backgrounds, ages 6 weeks to 5 years old.
The Academy is licensed by the Virginia Department of Education and located in an innovative shared-use government facility with the Franconia Police Station, Office of the Franconia District Supervisor, Franconia Museum, Kingstowne Library, Active Adult Center, and state-of-the-art children’s playground, creating a comprehensive destination serving residents of all ages.
The Academy is located inside the Franconia District Community Facility next door to Lane Elementary School, just east of Springfield Mall off Beulah Street, across from Inova Health System campus.
