CECILIA MANIEGO
This month, we shine our educator spotlight on Master Teacher Cecilia Maniego of the Hopkins House – Helen Day Preschool Academy.
Ms. Cecilia’s journey into education began in the most personal way — when she became a mother and witnessed her own son’s early learning experiences. Inspired by the educators who helped him grow, she pursued her passion and earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Saint Paul University in Manila, Philippines, her native country.
Since joining the Hopkins House Preschool Academy faculty in 2022, Ms. Cecilia has embodied her belief that childcare lays the emotional, academic, and social foundation for lifelong success. Her classroom is filled with warmth, curiosity, and encouragement, particularly during “Circle Time”, her favorite part of the day. “It’s a special moment when our Young Scholars share ideas, answer questions, and find their voices,” she explained. “One confident sentence at a time.”
For Ms. Cecilia, the most rewarding moments come when parents express gratitude for the confidence and readiness they see in their children as they prepare to enter kindergarten. She understands that this transition can be as challenging for parents as it is for children, and she takes pride in guiding families through it with patience, understanding, and care.
Through her work, Ms. Cecilia not only nurtures the minds and hearts of her students but also strengthens the families behind them — ensuring every child takes that next big step ready to learn, grow, and shine.
