On Saturday, April 19 from 10 am to 3 pm, the public is invited to tour Hopkins House's newest preschool, its Innovative Preschool Academy in Herndon, Virginia. The preschool academy, Hopkins House's third, is scheduled to open on May 5 and expects to enroll 100 children.
The preschool academy is a true "school", operates year-round, Monday through Friday, from 7 am to 6 pm, and focuses, in addition to offering a safe-haven for the children, on educating and preparing its "Young Scholars, ages 6 months to 5 years old, for exceptional achievement in kindergarten and beyond."
In collaboration with RAND Corporation, a prestigious national think-tank, Hopkins House has set out four key purposes for this Innovative Preschool Academy:
1. Measurable and consistent delivery of excellent Early Childhood Education (ECE).
2. Relentless pursuit of improvement in ECE within the academy.
3. Spin-off of such improvements for other academies within the Hopkins House system.
4. Generation of results, promising approaches, and hypotheses for the wider field of ECE
practice and research.
Class size will be limited, and only the most experienced and well-trained educators will be employed at the academy.
This Innovative Preschool Academy will not be "experimental." Because the first obligation is to its Young Scholars, only proven or promising approaches are to be put in place.
The Innovative Preschool Academy will emphasize:
 High quality teachers and teaching
 Excellent Facilities and ample supplies
 Parent engagement
 Experienced and knowledgeable management leadership
 Year-round education
 State-of-the-art curriculum
 Standards and metrics
 Linkage with research and study
