New Principal Appointed at Helen Day Preschool Academy

October 1, 2018 05:08 PM
Hopkins House announces the appointment of Mrs. Michelle Feh as Principal of its Helen Day Preschool Academy located in the City of Alexandria. She succeeds Mrs. Deborah Boateng-Beckson who took over as principal of Hopkins House’s James L. & Juliette McNeil Preschool Academy in Fairfax County.
"As a parent, I’m thrilled to be a part of the great work Hopkins House has committed to for 80 years and counting," Feh said upon hearing of her appointment. "I look forward to continuing to foster excellence in early childhood education at the Helen Day Preschool Academy through empowering staff, parents, and the community."
A committee, comprised of staff, trustees, and parents of academy young scholars, and led by a parent, was formed in July to oversee the search for a new principal. The search committee received and reviewed 104 applications for the position and unanimously recommended Mrs. Feh after concluding that she not only has the skills, experience, and temperament for the position, but also has a clear vision for the academy moving forward.
"I am really pleased to accept the search committee’s unanimous recommendation," said Hopkins House president, J. Glenn Hopkins. "It confirms not only that we have a world-class education staff but also affords the opportunity to promote from within. Mrs. Feh already knows the students and their parents, and the staff at the academy, and she exemplifies Hopkins House’s institutional culture of excellence."
Mrs. Feh joined the Hopkins House staff in 2015 as a Teacher.  A year later she was promoted to Preschool Academy Assistant Principal.  She has a Master’s degree in Elementary Education and over 9 years of professional experience in the education field.
Mrs. Feh is a resident of Virginia and has a child enrolled at Hopkins House.
