Innovative Preschool Selected for Study

December 1, 2016 04:37 PM
The Hopkins House Innovative Preschool Academy has been selected to participate in a study to uncover classroom, program, and school factors that create and sustain children’s success from preschool to third grade.

This 5-year study, known as Fairfax Prek to Third Grade Project (FP3), is a partnership between the University of Virginia, Fairfax County Public Schools, and the Fairfax Office for Children. Only students receiving tuition subsidies from Fairfax County government are eligible for participation in the study.

Through rigorous examination of policies and practices, classroom observations, and other datapoints, researchers hope to identify experiences in early learning and elementary programs that foster children’s development in pre-k, transition into kindergarten, and performance through third grade.
