Hopkins House Opens Computer Labs for its Preschool Academy Young Scholars

June 5, 2015 04:11 PM
Hopkins House announced the opening of computer labs for the Young Scholars (i.e. preschoolers, aged 3-, 4- and 5-years old) studying at each of its three preschool academy campuses.
Through generous gifts from the IBM Corporation and the Mark & Brenda Moore Family Foundation, these specially designed, child-friendly computers will be used to introduce the preschoolers to digital equipment and software.  The goal is to familiarize the children with this technology early on so that that they are prepared to take full advantage when they enter kindergarten.
The equipment is loaded with software to teach numeracy, letters and sounds, shapes and colors, and other early learning skills.  Visits to the computer lab are integrated into the classroom instructional routine.
