Alexandria, VA — Hopkins House is thrilled to announce the success of its 2025 Spring2ACTion fundraising campaign, during which donors contributed an impressive $13,000 to the Preschool Academy Scholarship Fund — far surpassing the original goal of $8,500 and exceeding all amounts received during campaigns since 2022.
The generosity of the community was particularly notable, with donors giving an average of $351 each, the highest average gift Hopkins House has seen in the past five years.
“These gifts from caring donors are a powerful act of hope, ensuring that the most vulnerable among us are not forgotten and helping to build a resilient, compassionate future,” said J. Glenn Hopkins, President/CEO of Hopkins House.
Funds raised through annual Spring2ACTion campaigns help ensure that every child — especially those from low-resourced, working, and military families — has access to safe, high-quality early care and education.
Since its founding in 1939, Hopkins House has been a cornerstone of the Northern Virginia community, offering high-quality early childhood education, before and after-school care, and career-building programs to hundreds of families each year. Today, as parents return to the workforce, their “Young Scholars” are once again embracing the exceptional learning environment at the Hopkins House Preschool Academy, a nationally accredited, Virginia Quality-rated program recognized as one of the best in the region.
However, the need for financial support has grown exponentially. With the annual cost of childcare surpassing $22,000 and a 240% increase in families seeking tuition assistance over the past year — from 134 to 323 families — the Preschool Academy Scholarship Fund is more critical than ever.
