Helen Day Preschool Academy Earns State Quality Rating

October 10, 2016 08:42 PM
Hopkins House announced today that its Helen Day Preschool Academy in Alexandria, Virginia, earned a quality rating from Virginia Quality, the Commonwealth's quality rating and improvement system (VQRIS).
Administered by the Smart Beginnings initiative of the Virginia Early Childhood Foundation, VQRIS is a community of leading child care providers across the Commonwealth of Virginia. By voluntarily joining Virginia Quality, these providers show their staffs, families and communities that they are committed to high quality early care and education services for young children.

To earn a quality rating, child care providers must submit to a rigorous set of nationally recognized quality standards and best practices covering four domains: Teacher Education & Quality Standards; Curriculum & Assessment; Environment; and, Classroom Interactions.

"We are delighted and proud to have earned this additional indicator of the exceptional quality of the early learning services we provide at our Helen Day Preschool Academy," said Hopkins House President J. Glenn Hopkins. "The true beneficiaries of this distinction of high quality are the young scholars enrolled there."

The academy is also NAEYC accredited, a national distinction of quality earned by fewer than 9% of preschools nationwide.
