Board Chair Delivers Strong Message to City Council

Hopkins House Board Chair, Julie N. Jakopic, delivered strong remarks at Alexandria City Council public hearing regarding the school district's request for $11 million in fiscal 2017 to open a pre-k center for Head Start and Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI) children.
Speaking on behalf of Hopkins House, while expressing support for full funding of the school district's proposed budget, she expressed "serious and frankly, grave concerns about putting 400 low-income 4-year olds in a single building" as the school district is proposing.
