TYPES OF POSITIONS: Hopkins House employs Principals, Assistant Principals, Teachers, Assistant Teachers, and Secretaries for its preschool academies; and, Managers for its administrative offices.

employmentMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education positions at Hopkins House require, at minimum, a college degree in Elementary or Early Childhood Education. Management and administrative positions require, at minimum, a college degree and one or more years of supervisory experience. All prospective employees must undergo criminal and child abuse background check, must be 18 years or older, and a United States citizen.

BACKGROUND CHECK: In Virginia, compliance with background check regulations for licensed and regulated child welfare agencies is required by law as outlined in the Code of Virginia. Background check regulations provide an important layer of protection to the health, safety and well-being of children in care. Background checks include:

  • Sworn statement or affirmation,
  • Criminal history record check,
  • Fingerprint based national criminal history search (e.g. FBI records search),
  • Search of the child abuse and neglect registry in Virginia, and
  • Search of the child abuse and neglect registry in any other state a person has lived in the past five years.
