One "Employee of the Month" is selected every month during the school year (September - June). These non-management individuals, distinguished by their exemplary work performance, team spirit, volunteer service, and commitment to the mission of Hopkins House as a world-class learning community, are selected by the Trustees' Scholarships & Recognitions Committee. FOR TEAM SPIRIT

Ms. Ankomah is dependable and flexible when asked to take on new or temporary duties, even at the last minute. She works well with the entire team and supports management whenever needed.

Ms. Ankomah joined the Hopkins House Preschool Academy faculty as an Instructional Assistant. At that time, she had a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. After learning more about career advancement opportunities at Hopkins House, she decided to further her education. She earned a professional certificate (i.e., CDA) in infant and toddler care and a Master’s degree. With these new school sets, she was promoted to Infant/Toddler Center Coordinator.

FOR VOLUNTEER SERVICE

Ms. Cardenas eagerly and frequently volunteers to assist co-workers having difficulty understanding spoken and/or written English and to help Academy managers as a translator for persons seeking information about the Academy or taking a tour.

Ms. Cardenas joined the Hopkins House faculty less than a year ago. Although she is responsible for floating between classes at the Innovative Preschool Academy, she can often be found assisting a recently hired co-worker with her training, assisting management to follow up with Hispanic families after Academy tours and providing them with assistance in completing forms, and distributing flyers at community centers and venues frequented by Spanish speakers.
