VOLUNTEERS NEEDED NOW!
Volunteers are needed to serve on Hopkins House
committees. Committees meet monthly on Thursday
evenings Meetings typically last for 1 hour and a half.
BUDGET
& PERSONNEL POLICY COMMITTEE
Oversees the fiscal affairs and investments, personnel policies
and practices, and facilities and capital projects of the
Organization; coordinates financial and management audits; and,
in consultation with the President, prepares the Organization’s
annual budget. If you are
interested in finances and/or investing, architecture, and
training, this is the Committee for you!
COMMUNITY OUTREACH & PUBLIC ADVOCACY COMMITTEE
Oversees the Organization’s marketing activities; develops and
promulgates public policy statements on issues related to public
education, family health, affordable housing, and employment;
and, recruits and develops prospective trustees. If you are
interested in marketing, public relations, politics, and
advocacy, this is the Committee for you!
RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT & ALUMNI AFFAIRS COMMITTEE
Oversees the Organization’s fundraising, special events and
alumni activities and its scholarship and grant activities; and,
nominates recipients of trustee awards and honors. If you
are interested in silent auctions, luncheons, yard sales,
concerts and gala events, this is the Committee for you!
ASSESSMENT & PLANNING COMMITTEE
Oversees implementation of the Organization’s mission and
strategic plans; conducts assessments of program impact and
effectiveness; and, organizes annual visioning and strategic
retreats. If you are interested in strategic and business
planning, assessments and evaluation, economics and visioning,
this is the Committee for you.

OTHER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Hopkins House needs volunteers and Community Stakeholders are
needed in a variety of other ways:

READERS - To read to preschoolers from selected texts.
Volunteer opportunities available weekdays, after
3:30 pm.
-
CHAPERONES - To help the
staff to escort children on local excursions.
-
TEACHERS - To teach Spanish and music to preschoolers.
Volunteer opportunities available Monday through Friday, mornings.
-
SPEAKERS - To speak to groups of parents on a range of topics, including family budgeting, homeownership, parenting, banking, and leadership.
Volunteer opportunities available, week day evenings.

MAIL STUFFERS - To help stuff envelopes for direct mail appeals to donors.
Volunteer opportunities available daily. Virginia regulation requires individuals working
with children (Readers, Chaperones, and Teachers) to be at least
14 years old, submit to a
criminal background check
and a
central registry release of information, and undergo a
tuberculosis test.
