Enrollment
The Preschool Academies offer a full-week, full-day, year-round program with a yearly tuition that is conveniently broken up into weekly payments. Part-time rates are not available. The hours of operation are from 7am to 6pm, Monday through Friday, for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years.
Hopkins House programs are competitively priced. Tuition rates are based on the age of the child. A sibling discount is offered for families with more than one child enrolled in the Preschool Academies. Please contact the appropriate preschool academy for current tuition rates and fees.
Hopkins House currently accepts children from child care fee subsidy programs in the City of Alexandria, County of Fairfax, and Stafford County. Please speak with your social worker if you would like to select Hopkins House.
Enrollment Waiting List
Due to the quality of our services, enrollment in the Hopkins House Preschool Academy is in great demand year-round. However, when children graduate and move on to kindergarten, or when their families move from the area, occasional vacancies occur. For this reason, we maintain an Enrollment Waiting List. There is a nonrefundable $100 fee for placement on the 6-month Enrollment Waiting list. Placement on the waiting list may be renewed for an additional 6-months with an additional non-refundable payment of $100 at the end of the first 6-months. This payment is automatically applied to the child's first week of tuition.

Enrollment in the Hopkins House Preschool Academy is on a first-come, first-enrolled basis. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, income, residency or form of payment. However, preference is given to the siblings of children currently enrolled in the Hopkins House Preschool Academy.
Scholarships: The Hopkins House Children's Scholarship Fund
We are committed to ensuring that no child or family is deprived of Hopkins House services for lack of ability to pay. Through the generous support of donors, by way of the Hopkins House Children’s Scholarship Fund, we are able to assist working, low-income families afford the cost of quality early childhood education services for their children. - The James L. & Juliette McNeil Preschool Academy offers tours on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
- The Helen Day Preschool Academy only offers tours on Tuesday mornings from 9:30-11:30am. You are welcome to sign up to take a tour; however the Helen Day Preschool Academy is at capacity. We recommend that you call the Academy Principal to discuss the waiting list.
