The Alexandria Council of Human Services Organizations (ACHSO) released “Meeting Needs Today: A Needs Assessment of the Alexandria Human Services System”, a research report containing new and important information about unmet and emerging human services needs in the city and recommendations to address these needs. The research committee was headed by Hopkins House President, J. Glenn Hopkins.

Earl Lloyd, the first African-American to play in an NBA game died today. Lloyd was a Hopkins House alumnus and last visited the organization in 2008. He was 86 years old.

The town Mayor, Lisa C. Merkel, toured Hopkins House's newest preschool academy, located in Herndon, Virginia. She toured classrooms and helped some of the Young Scholars at the academy prepare holiday decorations. This was the mayor's first visit to Hopkins House.
